- Schlosshotels & Herrenhäuser Property Recommendation:
An ancestor of the Blumer family had a residence built in the picturesque village of Nidfurn in the early 16th century. It acquired its current form under Peter Blumer (1587-1669), one of the most powerful and benevolent patricians of his day. Resplendent rooms with ornamental ceilings, paneling and Late Gothic window niches later acquired Renaissance and Baroque elements. One of the best-preserved examples of Late Medieval mansions in Switzerland, today’s owners have conducted painstaking restoration, opening much of their personal residence to the public as a museum and venue for cultural events. The Landvogthaus offers four stylishly furnished guest rooms exuding the charm of four centuries.
